The group handicap attracted 60 riders and was conducted over 15 laps
with D grade club riders getting a 1'30" start on C and B grades. The
format was the same as the popular Tuesday night series at Heffron Park,
but without a large contigent of big motors in B grade, it was D grade
who were able to maintain their advantage right to the finish.
In a finish that surely must go into the record books, Eastern Suburbs
rider Steve Newman claimed his 3rd win in as many years in the handicap
event. Maybe time for a new handicapper?
